Larry Wessels, director of Christian Answers/Christian Debater (YouTube channel: CANSWERSTV, websites: BIBLEQUERY.ORG, HISTORYCART.COM & MUSLIMHOPE.COM) debates Steve McCalip, author & producer of "KingJamesVideoMan," on the subject of WHO did Jesus die for. Bob L. Ross, leading publisher of Charles Haddon Spurgeon (please check official website: PILGRIMPUBLICATIONS.COM), is the moderator. Educational backgrounds of debaters: Wessels- Bachelor of Science in Advertising from the University of Texas at Austin, completed extension course taught by Dr. J.I. Packer of Regent College, Vancouver, Canada, studied virtually every book or tape produced by Walter Martin of the Christian Research Institute & Dr. R.C. Sproul of Ligonier Ministries, worked with Pilgrim Publications (C.H. Spurgeon) since 1990, attended Dayspring Fellowship of Austin, Texas (Pastor Jackson Boyett, www.dayspringchapel.org) since 1982. McCalip- Bachelor's degree from Baylor University, 2 Master's Degrees in Education from the University of Houston. Theological background: Wessels- Classical Protestant Reformed Doctine, Affirms the Trinity (Father , Son & Holy Spirit), McCalip- Arminian Doctrine, Denial of the Trinity, Affirms King James Bible only. A popular book out is entitled "History's Greatest Lies;" although this book doesn't mention the following it should have: Darwin's Evolution Theory, Global Warming, Muhammad was a prophet of God, the only true "church" is headed by a Roman Pope, etc. Another "greatest lie" would be to say Jesus died for people He did not indeed die for. There are only 3 possibilities: 1. Christ died to save all men therefore all are saved 2. Christ died to save no one in particular (men then must save themselves) or 3. Christ died to save a certain number (who God then actively saves) from eternal damnation in the Lake of Fire. This debate has been going on for centuries & in recent times has had more notoriety because of a book written by Dave Hunt of "The Berean Call" entitled, "What Love Is This?," which makes many of the same emotional Arminian arguments as Steve McCalip in this debate. Multnomah Publishers also produced a book entitled "Debating Calvinism" between Hunt & James R. White of Alpha & Omega Ministries. Ergun Caner of Islam fame has also taken issue with "The Five Points of Calvinism," namely: 1. Total Depravity, 2. Unconditional Election, 3. Limited Atonement, 4. Irresistible Grace, & 5. Perseverance of the Saints. The real question, ""Is God sovereign over man or is man's free will sovereign over God & His purposes?" Who is REALLY in control?

This is just a single episode of a 24 part (10 minute presentation) debate. To see this same 4 hour debate in 1 hour segments as it was originally recorded, copy & paste the following title into the YOUTUBE search box, "DID JESUS DIE FOR EVERYBODY WHO EVER LIVED OR NOT? DEBATE."

  • In revelation it says that ALL men will be judged according to their deeds. We act like we know who God will pick based on the same logic that Peter had about gentiles (after receiving the Holy Spirit mind you). How can Apostles be in error? They were, and it is proven by their own words. All men have erred in their logic because they were just learning the truth - that Christ is helping people be free by becoming love-filled beings.

FYI> Hell is gets destroyed too. Read it right!!

  • @TheLaunchingPad Your argument is flawed. You make the fallacy of FALSE ANALOGY by reasoning that since the apostles make mistakes then their teachings could be in error also. Likewise you follow this with another logical fallacy called NON SEQUITUR (being "love-filled" doesn't validate your "logic" point about the apostles). When aposles made mistakes the correct teaching was brought forth. Biblical doctrine (read Rom 9) is error free (2 Tim 3:14-17). Lake of Fire is eternal (Rev 20) not Hell.

  • At 1:13 Steve tries to indicate that words like US in the calvinistic mind set only means the church. However words like US have to be defined in the context that it is being used. This is why Steve fails doctrinally. In his mind US means every single person head for head. This is what Steve failed to do in the entire 4 hour debate. What he needs to do, is show that words like US, WORLD, EVERY MAN, ALL, etc, means every single person head for head. Steve failed to accomplish his goal .

  • Maybe not your God, but I couldn't claim to love if I didn't tell you the truth.

  • @lessingtom Arminian/Pelagian is a simple lexical term to describe a system of soteriology without having to go into all the details repeatedly. A similar example is "Campbellite" to describe "Church of Christ" water baptism for salvation doctrines. So far you've sounded like a Pelagian Campbellite. The Holy Spirit bears witness to the adoption of believers Ro 8:16, Gal 4:6, 1 John 3:24, 4:13. 5:6 & guides into all truth - John 16:13, 15:26. You're "born again" by the Spirit one time, not twice.

  • @CAnswersTV

So, in order to be saved you must first be filled with the Holy Spirit and then call on the Name of Jesus Christ for your salvation? Were you saved twice - first when you were monergistically filled with the Holy Spirit and again when you called on the Name of the Lord?

I am not an Arminian/Pelagian so please don't pin any labels on me.

  • @lessingtom You're living in an Arminian/Pelagian dream world where you want to give yourself credit for a salvation that was totally predestined by God Himself before the world was made (Ephesians 1:1-11 - "after the counsel of His (God's) own will" not Paul's, get it? Paul wasn't made a "son of God" by his own "will" power (John 1:12-13). He called on the Lord because he was filled with the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 2:10-16), not before, get it? Why didn't God appear to an Eskimo or an Aborigine?

  • @CAnswersTV

Yep! Paul, like anyone else, was saved by a sovereign act of God and yet no one can be saved without him/her first calling upon the Name of the Lord in order to be saved. No one is saved by a so-called sovereignly imposed irresistible grace. Paul seemed to have been procrastinating a little and needed to be prodded before he called on the Name of the Lord. He knew perfectly well what it meant to call on the Name of the Lord (Romans 10:13).

  • @lessingtom Paul met the Lord on the way to Damascus (Acts 9:3-8) & without that event he doesn't end up at Ananias' house where he was actually saved & filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 9:17-18), get it? Paul was saved & filled with the Spirit BEFORE water baptism (verse 18). Paul was saved by a sovereign act of God specifically for him (Romans 9:11-23) which God hasn't done for most people in the world. Has God appeared to you? Why doesn't God appear on the road for everyone? Read your bible!

  • Nonsense! Paul was not saved on the way to Damascus. He was saved in the house of Ananias in Jerusalem when he called upon the Name of the Lord for his salvation and was cleansed in Christ's blood. Read your Bibles and you will not come up with the nonsense you preach. (Acts 22:16). His sins were washed away when he called on the Name of the Lord and NOT when he fell off his horse.

  • @BugzyRoze Sorry, I wasn't aware of your other posts outside of this one video at the time of my reply. Regardless, please don't get me wrong, I'm not attacking you in any way whatsoever. I liked your comment & scriptural choice because it gave me opportunity to expand on the "world" theme that Arminians so typically like to use & refute it in writing in this section. I certainly didn't mean to actually imply that you were an Arminian at all, it was just a useful metaphor for sake of argument.

  • @CAnswersTV.....No I'm Not An Arminian.....I'm An Israelite From The Tribe Of Judah.......
