Richard Underwood pinch hit for the ailing Tom Adams at a banjo workshop at the Joe Val Bluegrass Festival in Framingham, MA, February 13, 2010. With him are Alex MacLeod on guitar and Joe Deetz on banjo from the group Back Eddy Bluegrass. Richard is playing his Gibson arch-top that used to belong to Donnie Bryant. This very banjo was played with Lester Flatt and the Foggy Mountain Boys once when Donnie filled in for an ailing Earl Scruggs. Most people know Richard as a founding member of the Johnson Mountain Boys - one of the greatest bluegrass groups ever.
Richard Underwood - my all-time favorite banjo player! Wish I could hear more from him on youtube.
