This is the first lesson in a series of lesson looking at Blues Rhythm Guitar, an Intermediate Module. This lesson looks at a simple visual trick to get you playing a 12 Bar Blues in every and any key. It's quite simple, but something I struggled with when I first started playing Blues rhythm which is why I'm starting the course with this - it's absolutely essential that you understand this... I know I rambled a bit and repeated stuff, but it's so important that I wanted to ensure it goes in :)

The backing track is free on the web site!

Taught by Justin Sandercoe.

Full support at the justinguitar web site where you will find hundreds of lessons on a wide range of subjects, and all the scales and chords that you will ever need! There is a great forum too to get help, no matter what the problem.

And it is all totally free, no bull. No sample lessons, no memberships, no free ebook. Just tons of great lessons :)

To get help with this lesson (and for further info and tabs), find the Lesson ID in the video title (like ST-667 or whatever) and then look it up on the Lesson Index page of justinguitar.com

Have fun :)

  • How about soloing over a blues track? Are you going to give a few tips regarding that? That would be awesome :)

    Great lesson!

  • @pedro201 ?? check web site dude, 20 lesson series...free of course!!

  • You should teach the pattern because I don't know it.. Can someone please tell me?

  • @CrazyTrain0111 look up the 12 Bar Blues in the beginners Course, and the "variations" - you'll need to be solid with these if you want to progress with this intermediate course!!

  • Hi justin, excellent lesson!... The beta automatic subtitles aren't working well enough, so, is there any way I can collaborate to put spanish subtitles for students all over latin america, spain, etc. I'm sure they will appreciate that a lot. It took me a lot more than 20 minutes to realize these facts by myself back in the 90's!

  • I think this is the best blues video I've ever seen. You are awesome.

  • Justin, I love you, man. Thanks for the lessons.

  • @kaa3164 not sure what you mean

  • I've been playing around six years but the theory is pretty new to me and I never took musicology classes.

So the one, four and five chords are basically what make us hear the same change of notes in the wrong key as the same song, right?

  • I got to 1:52 and flew out of my chair going WHAAHAHAHAAAAT?

  • excellent lesson! thanks justin.. this really helped :) you are an excellent teacher I must say!

  • Thank you Justin for sharing your knowledge.

  • Hey man, great lesson, I am gonna do the whole series, Blues is a really fun and (at a basic level) easy part of playing guitar. Great that you teach how to play it.
