Rockband 2 DLC for Week 02/09/2010 ~ Megadeth "Rust in Peace" full album

Dawn Patrol is the 8th track from Rust in Peace, the fourth studio album by American heavy metal band Megadeth. It was released by Capitol Records in 1990. A remixed and remastered version, featuring several bonus tracks, was released in 2004. A limited edition 180 Gram LP using the original mix was issued in the U.S. in 2008 by Capitol Records. This is the only remastered version of the original mix currently available.

This song examines the possibility of a nuclear holocaust; more specifically, what life would be like after the incident. Humans would be forced to live underground because the atmosphere would be so contaminated with radioactive pollution left over from the nuclear weapons. Dawn patrol is a military term referring to early-hours patrols by fighters.

"No guitar here, but in the original version, there was a heavy, dissonant guitar riff that was so strange I couldn't believe we were planning to record it. The song took shape in the studio." (Friedman, 2002)

Mustaine does not sing on the track, but simply speaks the verses. The intentionally unusual vocals were intended by Mustaine to sound "mole-like"; Mustaine was able to achieve that effect by drawing air over his bottom lip while biting down on his upper teeth.

  • lol, rockband removed what little guitar the REAL version of this song has

  • @kingosprites Um, no, RB didn't remove anything. Read the description, Friedman stated "No guitar here but in the original version there was a heavy, dissonant guitar riff ..." I found a few bits around the web saying the remastered version may have several guitar chords played. I don't know but this statement from Friedman is well quoted. With songs in RB like Polly, Silver (drums) & Thank You Boys (vocals) there's no reason for them to cut a guitar part if there is anything to chart.

  • fuckin scary ass vocals you got goin on there

  • @bigheadbrandon good old dave is providing all the scariness, i'm simply whispering lol

  • Bed Bath Beyond :)

  • guitar hero= looser

  • @spleen1234567 Alright then, lol, I guess ill have to check that out

  • @kingosprites Nothing was left out that I'm aware of, some of the songs just have alternate vocal takes. I think it's Five Magics, Take No Prisoners, and the first verse of Rust in Peace... Polaris that are affected by that, the other songs are identical content-wise in the remaster.

  • @spleen1234567 Yea, the remastered version added a lot of other things that I wasn't aware of in the normal version, such as different vocals in take no prisoners, in the remastered version, it isn't as intense, but I just recently listened to the normal version, and it was a lot better. I wonder what else has been left out that I'm not aware of...lol

  • @kingosprites I see you're familiar with the remastered version of this song. The Rust In Peace DLC uses all of the original masters of the album, and the dissonant guitar riff in the remaster was added there by Dave Mustaine.

  • oh, yeah, I got the remastered version, didn't know the original one didn't have any guitar. In the remastered version, there is just a few guitar parts. Sorry
