Many Washington employers report they cannot find qualified workers needed for future growth. Today, the level of skills necessary for adults to succeed are higher than ever before, meaning education is paramount.

Recent studies show more than a half-million adults do not have a high school diploma and are not enrolled in school. 26 percent of Washington students who enter high school in 9th grade will not graduate on time with their class.

Washington State's economic growth depends on our ability to make education and job training accessible. Integrated Basic Skills Training (or I-BEST) combined with technical education is leading the way. These programs provide the necessary basic skills to help students achieve greater success in the following areas: Certified Nursing Assistant (pause), business technology (pause), early childhood education (pause) and construction to name a few.

Getting an education has been the key to success for these three college students. Each has overcome remarkable challenges to fulfill their dreams.
