  • congrats! :)

my two hens layed their first eggs too just yesterday ;)

so do thefirst few eggs start off small, then gradually increase in size?

  • @nuggetwetyou They do start small and get larger. :-) It is so exciting, isn't it!

  • I LOVED IT!!!! WOOO HOOO!!!! First egg!!! Very cool!!!! And I just love the Lady in the video, she's so sweet! I lauphed so hard when she said "Oh, I thought it was a rooster!" lol That was a fun video!

  • Gee, thanks for the comment! Finding the first egg is only matched by the first hatch, which just happened 2 weeks ago! Good times!

  • is she the only one laying eggs right now? i'am glad she started to lay i. got my baby chicks from cackle hatchery on june 10,2008 now i have a lot of chickens 8 from mcmurray hatchery ( i sold the other ones) and 2 from the incubator i made and 25 chicks from cackle hatchery ( sold 8 chicks ) and my hen went broody!!! she's sitting on 12 eggs!

  • Wow! You sound like me. First we got 27 chicks from Murray McMurray but one died after a month. Then we traded 3 for the 3 ducks. Then we got 5 silkies and 5 polish from the feed store (they got them from Cackle) but one died the next day. Then I got 2 black austalorps from the feed store. And then we got rid of 8 roosters. Oh yeah, I forgot about the 2 turkeys. So in all, we have 23 hens, 3 roosters, 2 turkeys (female,) and 3 ducks (gender unknown)

And yes, she is the only one laying so far.
