http://toursandtales.com/ - Unbeknown to my wife, I booked her a 2 hour driving lesson for her birthday with Kemp in Lelystad (Netherlands). But it wasn't in an ordinary car ... rather a DAF XF 105 truck. Read the full story at http://toursandtales.com/so-i-married-a-truck-driver

  • You would go to jail for a year or two if you were caught driving a commercial vehicle without the proper license here in America...Thanks for sharing.

  • @busterhound333333 Thanks for your comment. The same applies in Holland too. This was a driving lesson with a fully qualified instructor ;-)

  • 1. why do the revs need to go so high before the engine knows you want to move forward?

    2. (sorry but) fucking hell 16 gears i've been in a truck before but i've never noticed it had 16 gears

  • @SuperGuitarMate the revs dont need to go so high I think it was just because she was not use to it and had not let the clutch out enough

  • @mitsub10 a newbie to trucking, Victoria was certainly getting used to the clutch and gears. If you mean the first pull-off, the truck had been parked in a deepish rut.

  • @SuperGuitarMate we never got to use all 16 gears ... especially in Holland where everything is so flat. It's more intended for heavy loads through the Alps, or other mountain ranges ;-)

  • I really like your wife's attitude. It was a pleasant ride to be in. She's really a good driver, quick learner and she's got skills! I wish mine would do that!

    Congrats!
