On September 16, 2008, Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson stopped by the University Bookstore in Seattle WA to talk about their new book, PAUL OF DUNE, and answer questions about the future of the Dune Universe. (Part 5) Brian talks about how Frank wanted to write a Butlerian Jihad book and elaborates on how the Dune 7 notes were found.
There never was a question in my mind that Dune Messiah was the logical conclusion to Paul's success in Dune. I find it suprising to hear of any backlash against it. Paul's struggles were realistic ans not idealistic. creating a sense of the realistic in SF? That has to be clever.
