Joey Molland performs "Dark Cloud" from his days in Natural Gas in Atlanta, GA, October 31, 1981. Accordingly, the clip looks pretty dark on the computer. The band was Joey Molland on guitar and lead vocals, Joe Tansin on guitar, Larry Lee on bass, and Bobby Wickland on drums.

  • Barb! You got Dark Cloud! Yay!!!! You rock.I've never seen Natural Gas live until now.

  • The song was from the Natural Gas album, but this isn't really Natural Gas. This is a Badfinger band that Joey put together after "Say No More". I do have some Natural Gas video that was shot from the wings when they opened for Frampton in '76. I haven't transfered it to DVD yet, but when I do, I'll upload some of it.

  • Barbara - thanks for posting this! I used to have this album and it was a favourite of mine. I've tried to years to hunt down another copy. Even the artwork was a delight!

Joey did a great ballad on this album and I can't remember what it was called.

Also, what was the band line-up on the album? I remember the piano playing was fabulous... but then, so was the whole album.

    Thanks.

  • It's just Barb. The album was "Natural Gas". The line up was Joey Molland (guitars), Mark Clarke (bass), Peter Wood (keyboards) and Jerry Shirley (drums). The ballad you are referring was either "Once Again (A Love Song)" or ,most likely, "Christmas Song". Be sure and check out my Yahoo group on Badfinger, Badfinger Boogie, for more on the band.

  • Wish we could see the whole video of this concert.

  • This is my favorite song from the Natural Gas album. I've never seen anything like this and I think this is a fantastic video. I love the riff on this song; it's no wonder he wrote this during the tail end of his Badfinger days because it rivals some of the songs he wrote with his previous band.

  • Thanks for the reply, Barb. Sorry I'm late in replying.

"Once Again (A Love Song)" was indeed the song that I was trying to recall. One of Joey's finest, in my book, along with "Love TIme", "Sweet Tuesday Morning" and "Love Will Come Around At Last."

Thanks agin for the info on the line up.

    Be well. :)

  • i knwo joe tansin.

I am 14 and he is my friends dad.

  • Cool! Thanks for adding to the good times. I got to meet Tag there (from Tag and Fergie fame) who roadied for them! That was 12/8/81. They played there again on 2/6/83 and I wasn't about to miss it.

  • Barb! That would be awesome, I've always hoped to see some NG and felt sure that it existed somewhere thanks to Frampton. How's the quality?

  • Sounds like Split Enz. Any similarities in style or sound I wonder?

  • I was the DJ at Brassy's when you saw them. Al Milliron
