Hello guys...
Its my second Radeon HD4850 (RMA) and the SAME PROBLEM...Black Screen under GPU Stress Tool....

I dont know more what to do...
I've already removed ALL ATI DRIVERS using Driver Sweeper (in safe mode)..
Changed power supply cables
This is a fresh windows xp installation...

My computer config:
ASUS M3A78-EM
2X 2GB Kingston 800MHZ.
AMD Phenom II 920 X4
PSU Sollytech 600W (its a PS recommended by AMD to run HD4870 / HD4850...so, no problem there)

Please, Help me!!

  • to solve this problem, the way is sell it and buy a nvidia

  • Yah it;s definitely the card in this case. I have the same card XFX 4850 512MB XXX and the same thing happens during Crysis (lucky to get 30 mins of gameplay), Left 4 Dead (although it last longer and you can play anywhere from 2 full campaigns to just 3 levels), and Furmark only lasts 30 seconds.

I have the same motherboard M3A78-EM, AMD 7750BE, 4GB of Crucial ram and a Corsair TX650. Going to buy a 9800GTX+ since it's all I can afford and I doubt I could sell this pos.

  • do it! no problems yet with m 9800gtx+

  • @leburn98 please, try In your bios set the pcie frequency to 100 not auto.

  • FUCK SHIT

i've a brand new XFX HD4850. I was almost buying a 9800gtx+ but i decided to buy this shit.

Im tryin to sell it and buy a GTX285

    NEVER MORE MOTHERFUCKER

  • @angelosaorin please try In your bios set the pcie frequency to 100 not auto.

  • hey guys i got a question i got the 4850 1 gig 256 bit and whenever i try to update the driver software it always crashes...on 11.5 and 11.6...im forced to use 11.4...anyone know y?....

  • @eforty6318 The problem is cooling and the fact that the sensor in the card is way more heat sensitive than normal. What this basically means: You stress test (or game), it gets too hot for the card(but the sensor says it isn't too hot and so the fan doesn't spin hard enough), and you'll get a blue screen so your card doesn't get killed.

How to solve: get better cooling/card (watercooling if you can afford it) and a fan under the card.

i have the same card but now with better heatsink and fan.

  • @leburn98 i have the exact same problem, i spent a whole day and night testing memory thinking it might be that. but clearly not, and i dont think my card is under warranty anymore.

  • Yip my HD 4850 went freezing and BSOD on me after 6-7months

  • This is just rediculous why would you underclock a card that came with this clock speeds they should be able to handle it... I've already had a 4850 that died within 2 month's then I got myself a 4890 which also didn't last longer than 3 month's, don't get me wrong the cards performed great for as long as they operate but imo it are just factory fails!
