  • at the end of the road, i hope Nuclear Fusion will substitute all major sources of energy for the country. :-)

  • really a great idea :)

but there are only few locations where this could work. its definitively a great idea, and a move towards the right direction, but we need lots of little ideas like this to solve big problems ^^

and... it only produces energy when the water is flowing, the turbines will stop every few hours. there will always be gaps, so we also need better ways to store energy.

  • This is really awesome. I wonder, however, if they can funnel the current to get it to move faster like the nozzle end of a garden hose and generate more power with fewer turbines? And what about debris and big fish slamming into these things??

  • Did he just say that new york uses 100 MW of power?

I think it is "bit" more than that =P

  • Wouldn't hat suck if they found out that the increased drag was just enough to slow down the moon and cause a collision course between it and the earth?

Whether or not it's a possibility, someone will put forth that idea and demand the turbines be removed...and they will be. That's how this stuff works -- all human development and activity will be demonized, one way or another.

  • Hmm.. a generator would also work... That would be fueled off Leprechauns!!!!

    ...

    =[)

  • xenophanesmith:

like batteries, but unfortunately this technology doesnt really exist in the way we would like it to be. there currently is no way to store large amounts of electrical energy. you can pump water uphill into a lake to store energy ifyou have a power-plant there. but there are no easy, direct solutions. not yet.

  • like... batteries?

  • at least it start to study. it may be not the best or great idea, but it is green without damage the earth.
