Nice clarity, Thank you, Now how to cross platforms? i'm not sure how to dothis on iPhone, iPad, as stand alone. I still have to have a PC ,ie windows to set the keepass correct? and dropbox.

Great tutorial Sir, thanks a lot.

Hey I was also wondering if there is a way hackers can simply grab passwords out of thin air or something, or go to the source and hack into that? sorry i must sound like a complete moron/noobie but i have no idea how this stuff works, and i have a paranoid fear of getting hacked for some reason! !

you can use keepass on mobile phones, android and iphone for example.
Now if you store your database on the internet (for example dropbox) you can always have access to your passwords.

This is great until you need to log in from another computer...

How can i use this program, if I
need the password from different computers
-
Thanx man, this is great. I knew about keepass but never used it.

Thanks. If I generate a password for an account I already opened, I have to use my current password, right? I can't use a newly generated password, correct?
can we trust this program? does it communicate with the internet?
we r putting all the passwords in this. what if some1 find a exploit and upload off all the passwords? or is this prgm well known for being secure?

@TheRooDog123 The great thing about open source software is that you're able to audit the source code yourself. If you don't trust it, you can look at the source to see exactly what it does. You can make sure the encryption algorithm are implemented properly. You can even compile it yourself if you don't trust the Keepass binaries. AFAIK keepass only contacts a remote server when you ask it to check for updates.

I have 1 more question.
Let's say I need to access my G-mail account on a public computer. How would I go about remembering the password?
Is it possible to have KeePass on my USB and use that to access my e-mail?

First, checking your email on a public computer does present a security risk. You don't know what kind of malware is on the public computer that could potentially capture your passwords.
But yes, you can put KeePass on your USB drive to access your email. PortableApps has a great open source utility for taking your apps with you.
