The "bachelor" makes up his mind on the first day, often in the first five minutes. Everything else after that is just camera-fodder and editing tricks.

The thing with The Bachelor is, you "only" get 25 ppl to choose from, and then 15 of those you probably wouldn't even have dated in real life, and out of the remaining 10, half of them is bound to be eliminated prematurely, because you didn't have enough time to get to know them. So basically, being on the show is the real life equivalent of dating 5 ppl. You can't really expect it to work out with those odds, but it can work out if you're lucky.
