@TheWhitehall Several articles say it wasn't badly damaged during the war, it was damaged on the night of May 2, 1945 when Berlin had already surrendered, Soviet soldiers got drunk in the hotel and accidentally burned it down.

@TheWhitehall -- this ugly recreation stands no comparison with the beauty and elegance of the original Adlon Hotel. Watch Percy Adlon's "The glamorous world of the Adlon Hotel" and you'll see the difference... --just watching the hotel's facade makes it clear that this building has nothing to do with the original....

This magnificent hotel was badly damaged during the war. Now restored from the Ruins of the Reich.
