THOSE ASSHOLES WHO POPPED THE BALLOON!
-
I remember seeing this in the library in kindergarten. Am I the only one who remained sad over the balloon that popped?
-
I was honestly was expecting all the balloons to zerg rush the bullies off.

everything about this film, the story, the loss of the balloon, the depiction of childhood and of old Paris, is extremely nostalgic and beautiful. It just breaks my heart everytime I watch it. It's a strange feeling I also had when I was a child watching that film.

I've just watched my DVD copy of this movie. Unlike so many here, I never got to see this movie as a child (not that I remember anyway). The last 2 minutes of the film may well be my favorite movie scene ever, and confirm to me why I love balloons (especially big, perfectly round ones) so much (I've rewound and replayed that scene so many times just to gaze in wonder at all those beautiful balloons :) ). I would love to fly with dozens of big, beautiful, helium-filled balloons.

Its very rare that i would want a kid to die in film and literature, and 0:01 is one of those rare moments.
And was I the only one who thought the balloons would go on a murderous rampage in revenge for the red balloon?

This is what Paris used to look like. For that reason alone, people should watch it.
