Examine the life and basketball career of Hakeem Olajuwon. Touch on Olajuwon's Nigerian heritage and then move on to his recruitment and eventual signing to play basketball at the University of Houston. Olajuwon was an unusual recruit in that he had hardly ever played basketball until he reached college, but being over 7 feet tall helped him eventually become one of the best centers to ever play the college game. After college, Olajuwon was drafted into the NBA, spending his career with the Houston Rockets, winning two championships and several personal awards.

  • i like olajuwon, but Shaquille was the best and always will

  • Only good basketball players can block Kareem, and Hakeem is surely one of them.

  • Phi Slamma Jamma (UH), the Twin Towers (Dream and Sampson) and Twin Towers II (Yao and T-Mac)... three Houston Basketball dynasties that never fully materialized.

  • This really makes me think b4 when mj was in the league, and you really start to see how many great players he had to play against and also embarrass hahhaa

  • @HymanKaplan portland had drexler tho, and at the time it was percieved that drexler would be the greater in the NBA, but in saying that i think the combination of drexler/jordan couldve easily been as effective as jordan/pippen but who knows.

  • @HymanKaplan And Houston never regretted picking Hakeem over MJ

  • Hakeem was so good, that nobody ever blame Houston for picking him ahead of MJ..Portland on the other hand..

  • It's weird that this was made in the mid-1990s and the narrator mentioned "Twin Towers" and "terror" in the same sentence, sad but true.

  • @AntiMTVMovement teammates? That would be unbeatable!

  • Its funny that he only played basketbal for 5 years then got into NBA but hey if i was that tall it would have a shot in the NBA if i developed them skills in a short period which was the reason it happend
