George, a North Carolina native, began his music career as something of a teen idol with songs like "A Rose & A Baby Ruth" and this tender-hearted ode to young love, "Why Don't They Understand", Top 10 from December of 1957.
SON-OF-GUN; JUST MADE IT!!! In 1958 "Why Don't They Understand" peaked at No. 10 thus just making the Billboard's Top 10 and it spent a total of 19 weeks in the Top 100...
Great stuff!! This song really takes me back to a much more simple time! I wish today's young people could have enjoyed growing up in the 50's, like I did. This song really expresses a life of innocense and true love----even though our parents didn't understand!! Thanks for the post!!! A nostalgic 65 year old appreciates it!!
