A meandering video exploration of an intriguingly busy piece at the opening of a show by Camerounian emigre artist Issa Nyaphaga. We wandered in by accident (we were looking for our friends at another opening; unbeknownst to us, they were in the gallery next door) and promptly lapsed into some mumblecore-y (shaky handheld camera; rambling discourses on art, politics, meaning) art appreciation. Recorded 9 January 2009, in Williamsburg.
@researchsiempre Wake up yourself! I'm neither white nor yuppie. It's true that I could have omitted our tipsy cocktail-party blather (I'd just bought my first videocamera, so I was filming all kinds of mundane things), but then, my 'mumblecore' reference acknowledged as much. Anyway, it's intellectually lazy to complain about folks 'opining as if they know what the hell they're talking about'. If there's something you took issue with or found wrongheaded, be specific!

I loved the art, but disliked the 2 white yuppie liberals opining as if they know what the hell they're talking about. wake up.
