  • Was this recorded at Pooh's Pub in Boston. I heard them there often before they recorded the Bright Sized Life Album. Nice!

  • @24nglenn

Yes it was. If you don't mind me asking, do you remember circa how often they played there? Once a week?

  • @Musicenthusiasm This was, as I recall hearing them several nights for a few weeks in a around the summer of, I thought 1975, however it may have been once a week over several weeks. I remember going in late and often there was not a large crowd but rather slow. A great time in Boston for live jazz.

They played many tunes that were later recorded on Bright Sized Life.

Wow! Thanks a lot for sharing your story. You were witnessing history in the making!

  • @Musicenthusiasm History is always in the making no matter what is happening

  • @YourFreeSelf

Of course. However( as I'm sure you know), the frequently used expression "history in the making" only refers to larger scale events. This leaves out things like a child picking its nose, the rude neighbour burping the local store manager in the face, a seagull bombarding your car window with feces etc....

  • You could see the germ of genius here with both of these guys. Jaco is playing a more traditional solo style, only more agile and faster than most stand up players. Pat kept on growing, he's an astonishing writer now....too bad about Jaco.

  • 3:00 AUGMENTO?

  • I have wanted to hear some of these performances for a long, long time. Thank you.

  • Love the vocal work on this one, you can totally hear "ahhhhhhhhhh"

  • @24nglenn I heard Pat play in '77 K.C. JCC concerts with what was formulating I believe his first band. He was even better I think as a walk on jam artist; saw him play a steakhouse with some old greats. Oh well reminiscing.

  • And Pat was 19 or 20... !!!
