A selected moment from the full 45 minute set played by The Soft Machine at a Hyde Park Free Concert. Especially nice for the shots of people dancing. See http://videoheads.info for more information about Videoheads, their work and their collection
Which year was this? I am pretty sure I was in attendance.
I remember the organisers, for whatever reason, often moved the siting of the stage. The first Hyde Park I went to was in August 1968 and the stage was close to the Serpentine. In September of the same year the bandstand was used - off hand I can only remember The Move playing.
The big Blind Faith and Stones events were back near the Serpentine, but by 1970 or possibly 1971 the siting moved again to another location in the park.
it makes me think about how good it is to find this. its like a small but very signifigant part of your life has been recreated and looks slightly different to your memory. I was standing near the shots at 3. 10 . this was the last of the proper hyde park concerts, as more free ones followed until mid 70s, but that unique atmosphere had gone to me even at the july 1970 pink floyd one, which was symptomatic of the coming change of culural zeitgeist,.the wind moving the trees. more videos please...
This is amazing! I look forward to seeing more of the Videoheads collection. It is incredibly rare to see ANY outdoor footage shot on video from the 60s!
@puddypuss Thanks for that. I thought it was later, but I was definitely there.

The pan of the audience from about 4:35m to 5:50m is absolutely wonderful.
