Missing Rutland Girl's Dad Pleads For Haiti Help

The father of a Rutland college student still missing in Haiti issued a tearful plea to President Obama for help Friday.

Reading a prepared statement in a live television broadcast from Florida, Len Gengel pleaded with the president "as a father" to send more U.S. assistance in the rescue and recovery effort.

By the way, Haiti and the "missing white women" are now off not just the front page, but also section B, C and D. As usual, when it comes to Third World disasters the attention span of the public fades quickly. Haiti is just like the 12/04 Indian Ocean Tsunami - the story grew stale within two weeks of the event, at which point we all moved on.
