  • Watch out for the Basecamp version ;)

  • Mapsource version 6.15.11 will not work with 3rd party maps such as those produced by CGSMapper with map codes (FID) above 2200. You will have to use an older version of mapsource to overcome it until map makers re-do their maps to have an FID below 2200. To see what FID your maps have on your PC you will need to access the registry.

  • Garmin have provided a firmware update for its Oregon and Colorado handheld GPS to accept maps with different names, such as usa.img or uk.img etc and all be loaded onto the Oregon, Dakota and Colorado series. All other GPS you are restricted to the gmapsupp.img as a map you install and thus this video is relevant to all accept the Oregon, Dakota and Colorado. These maps need to be placed in a sub-folder on your GPS or datacard called "Garmin".

  • depends which country you want free maps but we have a forum with such details called GPSAustralia. google it and it will be at the top of the listing.

  • Be aware that with the new Garmin Oregon, Colorado and Dakota models (latest firmware update) you can install individual maps onto them or the datacard but all must be with different names. Example, you may want to install New York, Sydney and London. You would then install newyork.img, sydney.img and london.img onto the GPS. This video suggests you have to install the 3 maps at the same time, you do with older GPS models but not the 3 I mentioned above.

  • The new Garmin GPSMap 62 series and the Garmin GPSMap 78 series can utilise individual maps as well. No doubt if and when the Legend Hcx and Vista Hcx are replaced the new models will also have this feature. You are still limited to 2GB per map but I am sure the new Garmin GPS can only accept either a 4GB or 8GB, I haven't tested.

  • Simple but without this I cannot find the solution! Thanx!!! :)

  • Hello. I need help.

When i enter more then 1 map into mapsource at a time, i get an error, and are unable to open mapsource.

If you know a way to solve this plz help me.

  • Be aware though that mapsource creates one img filed and names it gmapsupp.img, thus you have to rename it to newyork.img or sydney.img etc. To rename you have to access the file via Windows Explorer or My Computer. This img file is a garmin format and is not a generic img image file that products such as Paintbox, Paintshop Pro or Photoshop etc can view.

  • Where do you download the fkn maps i search evry where for it they only have codes for them, but you nalso need the image file omfg so far no one has replied to any my my posts
