Wow I'm surprised that guy actually mentioned Meshuggah...

Infernal Hail from OBNOUNCE/Slovenia, i just love my Ibanez RG2228 8-string guitar...
-
he talks about the 8 string like it can hear him lol
-
Even if I could play one, I just wouldnt like the fatter ass neck. lol

It just reminds me of the way that, for example, Gillette, almost every year launches ''amazing and outstanding'' new razor that has 1 blade more than the previous one. Same way I wouldn't be surprised that Ibanez now release outstanding new 9-string guitar! And with same amount of aggressive marketing to convince people who already have 6,7 and 8-string, to buy new ''superior'' instrument.

Can't believe you responded to my 3 year old comment! However, many artists play such weird instruments and I would never have problem with somebody's choice, if that is what it takes for them to show their gift and passion. The reason why I was pissed off and wrote those comments (and gained a lot of negative ratings from 8-sting-guitar-lovers) is because of the way Ibanez did marketing for it.

@sgcsc I find more standard to keep the 4ths or 5ths cicles between the lowest strings; moreover because one will usually play chords in 5ths or 4ths, as someone said.

@StarFury2 Sorry, but Vai was one of the first guitarrists that used 7-strings !!! And I'm sure he, with his open-mind and genious (to me he's a fucking genious in creativity), finds ok that some people prefer to try what they can do with an 8-stringed guitar, eventhough he probably don't feel at ease playing it for his kind of music.

@mikaelHD the issue is that the route for emgs is different from other pickups
