@golf1diesel I own both a 1996 Mk3 Tdi and a 1999 316i. My Golf is indeed much faster owning to the fact it's mapped to roughly 120hp with god knows how much torque. The 316i on the otherhand is much less stressful to drive on long journeys. Pity it didn't achieve the same fuel consumption though!

FYI: - The car's max HP is at  5.500 RPM so any thing above is a waste of time. If you have shifted at the right RPM and lounched at 3900 RPM (where the torque is at the max) you shoul do 0-100 in late 11s or early 12s ( 11.6 - 12.3 ). I'm not saing it's a fast car, but regarding it's weigh (1215 kg) it's not bad. Although I agree that the 1.6 motor is to small for this car
