Overview:
Millions of people have irregular heart rhythms, also called arrhythmias. Their hearts either beat too fast or too slow. These problems can be benign or they can also signal a life-threatening condition--sudden cardiac death-which is the number-one cause of death in the U.S. This program covers different kinds of heart rhythm problems and treatments.

Part One:
Irregular heart rhythms
Causes of arrhythmias
Symptoms of arrhythmia
Testing for arrhythmia - ECG/EKG
Sudden cardiac death
Implanted defibrillators
Pacemakers

Part Two:
Medical treatments for arrhythmias
Cardiac ablation-how it works
Different types of ablation
PET/CT cardiac imaging
Many are unaware of arrhythmias

Guest:
Dr. Stephen Shorofsky, a cardiologist and director of cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Dr. Shorofsky is also a professor of medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

  • so from all the reasurch ive done most cardiac arrests are from coranary artery disease (70 to 90 percent) also could be structural abnormalities. as for the the smaller percentage idk. low electrolites? low blood oxygen? medication?(brittney murphy, michel jackson, cory haim, heath leger) Drugs? adrenaline rushes? i have pvcs and would defanatly go for an ablation if i could right now. sometimes there so bad i cant sleep.

  • @joedrake1 You may want to call the University of Maryland Heart Center for more information or to make an appointment. The number is 410-328-6056.

  • AED Giveaway... Yep, American Med Supply is giving away an AED, and a bunch of other cool prizes. Just look up American Med Supply on YouTube for all the details. You don't have to buy anything or anything like that.

  • I just had an unsuccesfful ablation for my pac's.22,000 a day. it was coming from the his bundle. can't ablate or leaves me with a pacemaker. doctor wants me to try multaq.

    what do you think????

  • @yellowwitch1 i feel for ya, mine beats too fast with no rhythm and it likes to throw in a slow hard beat once in a while. I get to the hospital to see whats going on, take all sort of tests, and wear monitors.... they find nothing. i feel like i'm trying to show them a leprechaun they can't see.
