Ferro-Cement
a water reservoir consisting of thin layers of concrete sandwiching reinforcing steel tie-wire so designed as to put tie-wire into tension when load is applied.
NOT new technology. It has been extensively used since the 1970s for many applications.
NOT a special type of cement
a combination of concrete and steel taking advantage of each materials properties.

  • this type of construction should make a good pressure vessel...

  • Used since the 1970's? I'm 62 and my Grandfather had a tank he built for his windmill like this long before I was born. Only differnce being is that he used steel pipes as a mainframe and then wrapped them with chicken wire along with barbed wire on both sides of the pipe. We knocked what was left of the tank down in the late 80's when the Family sold the land.
