In this video I show you the easy way to replace the fan relay on your jeep. It takes 15 minutes to replace and saves you hundreds of dollars by doing it yourself.

  • Great vid thanks:) I had the check eng lite on my 2000 JGCL so I check and got the code P1491 I check my fan to make sure it was working, then checked the fuse the 40A one took off the neg batt cable put my new fan relay in thanks to you:) $57.50 part damn....lol

Ok now that was the only code showing so I thought I had it made, not so fast ha ha damn check eng lite is still on even after I took the batt cables off for 30 min's then put them back on. Got any idea how to shut thaat damn lite off?

  • @simone39t You can use a scan tool, or if you don't have access to one try this, its worked for me. Disconnect the neg batt cable for 15 min, while its disconnected put the key in ignition and turn the key like your turning on the vehicle. Hold key in on position and press brakes for a minute to drain all the power. Reconnect battery and see if it worked. Good luck.

  • took my jeep to goodyear and they told me the relay would cost me 80 something dollars and labor was around 175 and all that plus tax. thank you for saving time and money! :)

  • @mulgamutt (reply to myself) Fixed! The relay cost about $45 at Pep Boys, they had one in stock, and it took me all of 20 minutes to replace it. Big thanks! Now... I need a cheap fix for my bald tires...

  • My '99 Jeep (165,000 miles) is showing signs of its age... this morning, after a 10-mile round trip dropping off the kids at school, the fan came on after the car was turned off, and stayed on. I disconnected the battery (fan obviously turns off) and when I reconnected the battery... the fan comes back on. I'll check the relay first, see if that solves things, before digging deeper. Might be some bigger electrical issues, sometimes the radio won't turn off when powered down. Weird.

  • Thanks so much srcoyote888. Excellent vid and you saved me a lot of money!
