the only reason he had to raise taxes is because of Reagan's stupid Reaganomics which caused the public debt to go up. Bush did the right thing by raising the taxes because even though it cost him the 1992 election it helped a little bit to the good economy during Clinton's administration. Which the second Bush did all he could to fuck up.
Actually, Reaganomics increased government revenue. But the Liberal Democrats running the House of Representatives increased spending even more.
In fact, Reagan was blamed for "shutting down the government" because he kept vetoing those increases, until the Liberal Media had everyone against him, and he had to sign.
