Your fish costs more than you think.
A billion people worldwide depend on fish as their main source of protein, many of these living in the world's poorest nations - including Africa.
Europe doesn't rely on fish to survive -- but the continent still has an insatiable appetite for it. As fish stocks in European waters are seriously depleted, the largest European fishing vessels increasingly exploit foreign waters.
Today, one quarter of all fish caught by EU fleets are taken from non-EU waters. The devastating result: local fishermen see their own catch diminish, and their communities go hungry.

@CaptBobPacific We are more than capable of producing enough food to feed these people and sending it to them.
Our 'leaders' just choose not to because there is no short term profit in it for them. They'd rather play monopoly games with useless tokens than solve the problems of the world and it's this mentality has killed more people and caused more agony throughout history than any other factor.
It needs to end.

There are two side to the supply vs demand equation. An obvious answer is to cut the demand by reducing the birth rate in these undeveloped countries. The world does not need more hungry mouths to feed that are not adding one iota to the world needs for educated people making a positive difference.

I think this is disgusting, the fact that I'm west African has nothing to do with it!
Just watching that massive trawler in the 'playground' dwarf the local fishers in their wooden boat was enough, but to hear that; IN ONE SEATING THAT TRAWLER CAN CATCH up to 15MILLION FROZEN MEALS FOR EUROPEAN MOUTHS (myself included) AND THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE STARVE AND DIE METERS AWAY IS MODERN DAY ENSLAVERY!
We need to do something, where do I sign up?
This a cause worth fighting for, it highlights and cl

Aggressive over fishing by foreign vessels in West African waters is one of the main factors in the rise of Piracy in those waters. It is now unemployed fishermen who make up the bulk of the pirates.
You missed an opportunity not mentioning that.
