I am about to adopt mice. I have a 20 gallon tank for them, and I plan on bringing home 3 or 4 female pinto mice. This video provides a quick little tour of my cage at the moment, awaiting occupants. This is by no means how the tank will stay. I will continue to collect new toys and furnishings and rotate the tank contents for mental stimulation. If you have any comments or interesting ideas, I'd love to hear them! I will keep you updated on my venture into the mousey world with more videos.
Info: If you are using a wire cage to house your mice, make sure all holes are 1/4" by 1/4" or less. Any hole a mouse can put its head through is a hole it can fit its entire body through!
Aquariums have one major disadvantage - they have inferior air circulation within them. You will need to be more diligent about removing soiled bedding from the cage each day to prevent problems with air quality.
Don't use plastic or wooden cages for mice, as they are great chewers and will chew their way out of the cage.
Don't use pine or cedar shavings as bedding. This is a very important guideline. It is detrimental to mouse respiratory health.
Try to use wheels with solid running surfaces. Otherwise, mice can catch their tails or toes in holes and be injured.
Mice NEED at least one nesting area in the cage. If your bedding isn't deep enough, you should provide something for them to build a nest in, as well as soft bedding material to line the nest with. Don't clean this entire portion of bedding at any one time. Also, only change some of the nest bedding occasionally, as mice are comforted by the scents collected in this bedding.
P.S. - Some of you may notice that I previously posted pet rat videos. Those rats couldn't stay with me, as I moved back into my mother's house and she would not allow them to come live in her house. The rats went to an incredible home where they joined a rather large family of rats in a triple Ferret Nation! They have since passed on :(
the wheel you have in the cage looks like it is a wire one. wire can hurt their feet and possibly make noise. you should get them a 'silent' spinner. it is quite, and it is solid and wont hurt their feet. otherwise GOOD CAGE!:)

@Dakota7257 I know. When I set the cage up, my pet store didn't have the small silent spinners.
