Amazing video of a hippo who spots a young impala being eaten by a croc., and then proceeds to scare the croc. away, in attempts to revive the impala.

This example of compassion in the animal kingdom is touching. It also destroys the theistic theory that God is the source of compassion in humans (unless theists are going to now claim that hippos, monkeys dolphins, and all other animals that demonstrate compassion now have souls as humans do.)

I saw this on TV as a teenager, the full clip! Uncut and much more detailed. It reminds me once again, why we should treat animals just as kindly and fairly as we treat people. Still makes me cry.
