NorCal Equine Rescue receives dozens of calls from people who, due to the hard economic times engulfing our country, are unable to care for their horse any longer. We rescue hundreds of horses a year, this is one horse that was surrendered to us on Jan 1st, 2009. The elderly lady was the horses owner, and she was losing her home and could care for her sweet girl no longer.

  • @BeachMist13 and why does the humane society steal horses when they get in a accident on a trailer? it is not right they steal cows and horses

  • I would bet a nursing home, is where she is going and it took her farm home to pay for her care in the nursing home. That is my guess I am wrong I guess she lost her house due to taxes or mortgage forclourse since they say she is losing her home This poor lady will end up in a nursing home under medicaid being homeless. That will kill her being stuck in some awful medicaid nursing home. She is dead by now in January 2011

  • That had to be so hard for that poor old lady....I'm thinking she didn't live too long after giving up her horses.....

  • In the world we live in several homeless people were probably driven by while hurrying to rescue

    the animals.

  • that is very sad :( poor lady and her YARD

  • It was a much better place to go for the horse than might have been; I am glad she found you, Norcalequinerescue. (I hope she found a place for her and what looks to be her dog, too.)
