Originally produced from 1970 to 1974, and then later as a re-badged import from Mitsubishi, the Challenger never really gained entrance into the Pantheon of muscle cars, like some of its Dodge and Plymouth brethren.

In the 80's Dodge sold another car with the Challenger name. It was actually a car that was made by Mitsubishi, and re-badged for the American market. It was not a muscle car.
