can jewel get along with parrots?

@mazdaspeedmama thanks for the tips i appreciate it, ive never successfully bred any other cichlids besides convicts, i had a pair of jds that never laid so im really happy bout this

@batterballz1 cool man, congrats on your fry! if you go to petsmart you can get a breeders net for about 6 bucks. Make sure you get the blue net that you have to put together, not the clear plastic one because the babies are so small they will slip right through the clear one. Pay attention to your male when he "wiggles" to see where the female lays her eggs. 95% of the time the will secure their eggs to a rock. put that whole rock in your breeders net to save all your babies!

@mazdaspeedmama they laid eggs!! i didnt think they were big enough but they were obviously, unfortunately someone at the eggs, prolly my jaguar

@batterballz1 In most cases, the male is always more colorful and prettier than the female. But, not with these. The female is smaller and way more bright colorful red, while the male will have hints of red on it's brownish grey body with red fins. Sounds like you have a pair. They will breed like rabbits mine have a batch of fry twice a month. Also, these are not mouth brooders. The female lays her eggs, so if you have other cichlids, be cautious, Red Jewels are VERY territorial.

how big do these guys get. I have 2 small like those.

@ryan0625 ruby clown ciclid.

@ryan0625 i bought a ruby clown fish because it was dark grey with bright red tips on all the fins. the pet store had black gravel I have bright blue gravel. It changed colors to a very pale light blue and can hardly see the red tips on fins anymore. You might have the same issue I do.
