@bstensland Without Blackmore there would be no harmonic minor scales, sweep picking, etc. in rock music. Technical "guitar-heroes" like Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmstreen, Steve Vai or Steve Morse call Blackmore a main influence.
But Blackmore doesn't play mainly with technique but he uses a lot of feeling and intuition. I think guitarists who play this way like Blackmore, Page, Santana, Knopfler, Clapton, etc. are the better ones but thats just my opinion...

well...there's too many crappy bands out there who don't know how to make music...yes yes, they can put chords together and make a song...but a SONG is not necessarily MUSIC. The best thing about Steve Morse is he's not a sloppy improviser like Ritchie Blackmore, he's a true TECHNICAL improvisor! Learn your theory, THEN pick up the guitar, THEN learn more theory and practice it, THEN learn and practice...you DON'T become a phenomenal guitarist by just playing, you have to learn how and why you do things....KNOWING is always going to produce a better guitarist than PLAYING without knowledge...ignorance to theory makes you bands like...
