Weird Cloud Shoots

I was pool side in my apartment in Singapore, when I saw something weird in the skies.

As I looked over head I saw some weird cloud shoots of light and puff as the clouds seemed to reform sporadically. I could see that a storm cloud was building, but the light and visual show was intriguing me.

So I grabbed my iPhone and recorded this :)

Let me know what you think caused this, and what this type of thing is called! Thanks...

Going further, which sounds SF, imagine that high tech civilization can make it artifically to rule the low-tech civilization. Sounds weird ? Maybe, but who knows :)

There's cirrus cloud at the top of the thunderstorm, cirrus made of ice crystals, the ice crystals act like Iron Filings attracted to a Magnet, the crystals orientate themselves along the electrostatic field of the thunderstorm.

When there's a lighting discharge, the the electrostatic field suddenly changes and the ice crystals re-orientate to a new direction and reflect the sunlight.

Might be a varying electrostatic charge in the thundercloud affecting the orientation ice crystals.

Ah, I was right...
