Halie (Laura Chirnside) discovers what Tilden (Tom Bartlett) has dragged into the house from out in back, and doesn't like it one bit.
The Jakarta Players are a venerable amateur theatre company in Jakarta, Indonesia. In the fall of 2001 they mounted Sam Shephard's Pulitzer Prize winning 'Buried Child'. Cast and director Tom Schulz put an incredible amount of time into the process and when they showed a little preview one weekend mid-way, I was so energised by it I asked them if I could make a recording of it. They liked the idea, I planned it out and shot all dressed rehearsals and performances live with a single camera and a handful of lectern mics, to be cut together at a later stage.
That 'later' turned out to be almost five years later, when I finally found the space and time to spend almost three months cutting it into something that resembled its potential.

Such a cool crowd of people - clever clever people! Good to see. I saw the live version at the time.
