actually those are the dye colors, i also have the ones listed. the colors i used are a variation of those.....

for around 16oz of dye i'll use 8 tablespoons of black dye. dharma trading recommends you use 4x the amount of black. dyes will last a while, they'll lose their brightness after a while and will sorta "pastel" out, so use it fairly quickly for best results. i mix either quarts or pints of dye in glass jars, depending on how much of a certain color i use.

How long did you let it sit before and after you applied the black dye?

I let the shirt sit with the black dye on it for somewhere between half an hour and an hour then applied the soda ash fixer. This time can vary as you see fit, longer more black interaction with the other colors, shorter and less black interaction.

i didnt really like the black, you should have just left it with the colors. but ur good u should put more up

I do some without the black also. Some folks prefer them that way so i do both ways. Keeps things interesting.Thanks for the comments.

what will happen if you don't use as many colors ?

i want to use 4 colors, will it have the same effect ?
