Kira was a Grand Duchess of Russia, the daughter of Grand Duchess Victoria Feodorovna, a granddaughter of Queen Victoria and of Tsar Alexander II, and of her second husband, Grand Duke Kiril Vladimirovich, also a grandson of Tsar Alexander II. Hardly a commoner...
