Ok, I appreciate this movie. I realize that I am not in a position of authority to question the story's point of view because it is told from an actually experienced perspective. watching this movie as a Samburu makes me really uneasy. Most Samburu ladies,have a lot of respect, an old Samburu mama would not question her son's choice of a wife in front of her out of respect, the way it is depicted. I am sorry if you experienced this but I dont think it points to the whole community's culture

@HubrisNemesisRebirth You are right i have lived in Kenya and i know that Samburu are proud and respectable people.One think that i found furstrating about the fillm is that they dont have subtitles when they ar talking in Samburu (its like i m missing half movie) One other think that i dont understand about Carola is that in her book when she met lemalian she went back home and after few mounths she went back to Kenya .Couldnt sheeducate herself about the culture she was going to live in ?

@toisaalta : Don't trust a known friend either, it's also possible with a known friend as long as it is unprotected sex. Beside the Samburus have no single case of aids. They live in the outskirt of a remote village with no intimate relationship with those in the cities. This masai's case is very rare.

@Spongyb Maybe according to the man himself, but I wouldn't trust a stranger. Also, it's a great idea to get pregnant with a stanger and all, as it is always possible when having unprotected sex.

Ok yes she was crazy, but in her defense, if you have ever seen a Masai or Samburu in full regalia...gosh these people are impressive. Secondly if the real guy looked anything like this actor I would have dropped everything on the spot and joined whatever he was part of right away...
