The Animal Legal Defense Fund filed a legal petition with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), urging that foie gras—the "fatty liver" of a force-fed duck or goose—bear a consumer warning label stating "NOTICE: Foie gras products are derived from diseased birds." Because the USDA is responsible for ensuring that poultry products are wholesome and for approving only products from healthy animals, stamping foie gras products with the USDA seal without disclosing that those products are derived from diseased birds misleads consumers, contravening the Poultry Products Inspection Act.

Foie gras comes from birds who, in addition to being horribly abused, are diseased and extremely ill. Just like someone buying a pack of cigarettes, consumers purchasing foie gras have a right to know what they are really buying, and to be warned through appropriate labeling about the risks involved.

The only bad thing about this video for me is that, the animals are forced to eat which would harm them and make them sick. The people on this factory should have a proper way of raising Foie. I think a law that would be implemented should not ban people not to eat Foie, but ban the people who are harassing the Foie instead of nurturing the Foie to have a better products. :) Consumer needs healthy food, not disease food.

Seems kind of pointless to say that hepatic lipidosis leads to eventual death when these ducks are raised to be slaughtered. That's like criticizing a person on death row for smoking by saying it's going to eventually kill him.

well it didn't really occur to me to think about it so much till you brought it to my attention. It sounded very plausible so I had immediate questions of sorts & now seek a bit of knowledge to questions that may have otherwise endangered my health without me knowing about it. Meat quality depends to a certain extent on the quality of the life in the mind of the creature being eaten & digested- thanks for bringing such a thought to me, it would have never been thought on my own!
