check out helios-labs they offer the latest cutting-edge tech for upconverting standard dvds
but even so it's no match for blu-ray power and i own the earlier model Sony BDP-S2000ES that brought tears to my eyes by it's powerful blu-ray video image quality

Are standard definition DVD players which upconvert a better investment over a Blu-Ray player? I'm asking because I want to get the best possible playback for my standard definition discs, and I've read that Blu-Ray players aren't spectacular for upconverting standard discs. I'm considering the Rotel RDV-1093, which is also nice since it supports DVD-Audio playback.

its the HD reality enhancer that "puts" this above the others. But all it does to me is cause pixelation during action sequences.

so 85% of what it does, all other blu ray players DO! And then they talk it up from 15% more to "superb" WTF? It's overpriced

No, Sony went back to analogue. S-master amps are reserved for Sony's highest end kit such as the TA-DA9100ES and the TA-DR1.
All amps lower down have standard analogue amps.

mmm, so the new amp has HATS like the DA9000ES and DA7100ES amps from 2004-5!!!
has S-Master Pro digital amplification returned in this new amp?
also does this new BDP 5000ES decode and then output via hdmi as pcm like the sony ps3 can?
