i always LOVED the cinematography in the watchmen. when mothman and silk spectre went out to dinner and this song played. The weather rainy, the song slow, zooming in to them at the diner then it picks up at 0:29 to get you in the mood to be happy and thats where the dialogue picks up. mothman and spectre talking about "the good old days" Genius really.

I've heard he likes the Justice League episode "For The Man Who Has Everything" It's the only adaptation of his work that he enjoys.

@inkblackRose The movie version of V for Vendetta is a lot more altered than the Watchmen movie. Alan Moore despises every movie made based on one of his works, but they still are important to give an live idea of how the characters are. If they didn't made the movies, then the number of people who knew about Alan Moore's works would be a lot smaller. After all, people these days, in general, are «allergic» to digging in on more deep cultural works.

@juliuscipii3 but no! the book justifies itself completely, and it has more time to use subtle visual details. look, i respect movies as a medium, and i respect the idea of translating something from one medium to another, but i fail to see how WATCHMEN benefited from the translation. to do so required massive amounts of detail and intricacies of the plot and meaning be left out, and it wasn't an improvement. v for vendetta you could make an argument for, but alan moore comics movies are bad.

I got 99 balloon, but a blue ain't one.

@inkblackRose despite i believe that was a major change in the plot, you must undestand that the way they changed the ending shows also how quickly people change their opinion about someone who has protected them for years (Dr. Manhattan). And it also gives an extra reason for the masked heroes to disappear.

The lyrics of this song tell how 99 balloons are flying in the sky, where they are spotted by the military who don't recognize them as balloons but instead think they are some kind of incoming weapon. They immediately put their troops on red alert and call out jet fighters to intercept which ultimately triggers a nuclear war between the two Cold War adversaries.
Where in Watchmen wouldn't this song be appropriate?
