  • I should say this is something like a slow to medium march rhythm

  • Did you also see the new video of this tune, in high definition, with Lielian on drums?

    kind regards,

    BB

  • Hey there - I'm a bass trombone player myself but I was wondering how Selena did those very quick notes at 2:25 and b/w 2:32 and 2:34 - are they grace notes or something similar? I noticed them quite often in Jack Teagardens solos. Anyway, I'm not sure if she can reply here but thank you ; ). Great video.

  • Hi there as well. Basicly Selena simply does these kind of things without too much thinking. She improvises much simply on intuition.

When I asked her she told that every note is made with the slide (very fast) in combinated with very soft tonging. Easiest positions are first and second. (When watching Teagarden, I also notice that he only uses the first few positions).

In some registers it seems to be easier then others, Selena told, low register is more difficult.

  • awesome dixieland band! love the bass sax

  • Hello Jimby, thanks for watching our films. The bass-sax is a 1940 Conn, best type ever build I guess.

Saw you playing your bass-sax as well. Enjoy!

  • @ABrandsma Yes, and it was excellent.

  • In other words, "practice"

    HaHa! Great work

  • You should each post a video of your solo techniques - all of the solo's sound great, but imparticular I would like to hear more trombone solo's - that being because I play bass trombone...but hearing from all the others would be awesome too.
