  • @HomelyCooking : a troika is a sleigh--this is exactly the right "sleighing" tempo! The bells on the harness are charming here. Nobody every has done bells as well as Shchedrin: they show up everywhere in his music.

  • What an engaging and well-crafted piece of music, performed quite well. At first one wonders why the D-flat is insistently intruding in the harmony--and then in the inner section the key of D-flat itself suddenly emerges in a lyrical second theme, like the sun popping out from behind a cloud to illuminate snow-covered pines. Really cool.
