listening exercise; unknown bird call. visual@time2:08.They were about 40 ft. up a Cottonwood tree. Their was a pair...one vocal & one silent and watching. The wing span was about 2 ft. or more

An Indigo Bunting chick flew into my buddies window this past spring, stunned it for a few hours. If you ever find out the name of this bird, please let me know. I live next to Lake George in Hobart and see a wide variety of birds.

Have you had any feedback? I was camping in SW Michigan this summer and heard the same bird. I'm still baffled.

No,not really..um i know this seems geeky to some ppl. but i'm disappointed none-the-less by the large gap between views and comments on all of my videos. However, I've been able to identify a Bunting and a Red-tailed Hawk as a direct result of youtube postings :>)

A flicker sounds similar but to me Cooper's Hawks sound a little bit more...annoying if that makes sense. The bird also has a long tail, unlike a flicker.

@fivestarfood The bird is a Coopers hawk. The light belly and square tail give it away- not to mention the distinctive call.

I figured it out. It's a Northern Flicker. I recently started working at Wild Birds Unlimited in Valpo. We have a clock that has a different bird call every hour. Someone came in and turned it on and it just happened to have the card installed with the Flicker on it. At 11:00a today I heard this call and yelled, "That's it!"
