First Place Winner in the Most Useful category the UIST 2011 Student Innovation Contest, sponsored by Microsoft.

Implemented by David Klionsky and Julia Schwarz.

You can download the installer at http://windowtouch.codeplex.com/.

Moving and resizing windows still requires a surprising amount of precision from the user, because they must select either the top bar or thin borders of a window to interact with it.

We present two new gestures for the Microsoft Touch Mouse to move and resize windows by clicking anywhere in the window area.

To move a window, do a three finger click and drag.

To resize a window, click with one finger, and swipe a second finger in any of four directions.

Moving and resizing windows is one of the most common interactions in a desktop environment. By using the touch mouse, we can make these tasks easier.

  • Really cool stuff, convinced me to buy the mouse!

  • does it work with a synaptic touchpad?

  • Is there any code or download for this ? I'd really be interested in trying it.

The mouse as shipped badly needs some more advanced features, any hack is most welcome.

  • love it!!

  • I'm assuming this could be brought over for say a touch screen as well.
