Video shows hair donation of 8 year old Brittany Twidwell for "Locks Of Love", organization to help children who lose hair to cancer treatment or other causes. According to Brittany, she grew the hair for over a year to make the donation, which was performed at The Hair Shoppe, Augusta, Illinois.

  • Im really sry to say this but Locks of Love is a scam... Most of their hair is bought by Hair companies for hair care products to test on. The only use a small percentage for wigs.

  • I'm not sure where you get your information. But I've run Locks of Love through some of the best "scam buster" search engines around--and came up with absolutely ZERO to indicate that what you're saying is true. If you can provide anything besides heresay, actual evidence, fine. Otherwise, you might be wisest to put a cork in it--to avoid looking numb between the ears.

  • Locks of Love IS a scam. They collect tens of thousands of hair donations every year (by their own admission) but have produced less than 3000 wigs in a decade (that figure is from their own werbsite, BTW). That's only a few hundred a year. And most of those aren't free; they are sold on a sliding scale basis. They trade on the common misconception that the wigs go to kids with cancer. In fact, they have always gone to people with alopecia. And the overwhelming majority of donations are sold.

  • With all due respect, by your standards, the Mayo Clinic would ALSO be a scam, because they don't give their services away to everybody. Just because Locks of Love bases their system on the ability to pay does NOT make them a scam. As for your other statement, alopecia also creates severe hair loss--and adversely affects a child's ability to maintain a somewhat normal life. People in general are capable of great cruelty, including children. Many learn that from their parents' example!

  • Girls should have long hair. It's called femininity. Besides, Locks of Love is a scam.

  • While I respect your opinion, there are children out in this world who have lost their hair due to medical conditions beyond their control. Thanks to this program, they will be allowed to have half a chance to feel "normal" again. So I've got to applaud that.

  • @rudykemp The Mayo Clinic is a *business*, not a self-proclimed "charity" like Locks of Love! That's the difference! As for Alopecia, you're right but synthetic hairpieces do the job just as well and are less expensive. Besides, LOL exploits the mistaken belief that the hair goes to cancer kids!
