http://AussieBee.com.au This native stingless bee nest has thousands of busy worker bees. Their nest is inside the tree hollow. These tiny 4mm bees pollinate flowers and make a unique tangy honey.

  • I have a quick question. If they cannot sting, what's their defense from predators?

  • The stingless bees live inside completely enclosed cavities eg inside hollow trees. Their defense is to securely resin up all openings to their nest other than their nest entrance.

If you find a nest that has broken open in a fallen tree, it is important to cover up all gaps other than the entrance ASAP to protect the bees from ants and honeybees. If set up in a safe place in a garden, a rescued nest like this can survive for decades.

  • Awe, then they sound like perfect garden pets! lol

  • They sure are! And they are great pollinators for the vegie patch too.
