This is a video of Chip talking at only 8 months old, he is very small so you have to listen carefully; he is saying, `step up`, `good boy`, `good morning`, a "cat call" whistle and a "dog call" whistle.
Chip can also say "kiss kiss" but he didn`t do it today.
Note: at 3min.20sec. he starts most of the clear talking
Enjoy.

  • I have an 8th month old parrotlet too, but im having a really hard time to get her to talk. if anyone has any advice, PLEASE let me know :]

  • You can`t get her to talk, she will only mimic your speech IF SHE WANTS TOO and that is very rare because she is a female, most if not all talking parrotlets that I have seen are male, I didn`t get Chip to talk he just decided he wanted to mimic what I say. One thing you can `get her to do` is tricks as I`ve seen other female parrotlets do tricks, there are books on clicker training to do that.

Who knows maybe someday she will surprise you?

  • I have a Chip the parrotlet too! Mine is blue. He doesn't really talk yet but he goes to work with me and does the same thing when I leave the room!

  • Aren`t they such wondefull birds; Tell Chip that Chip says hello!

  • Chips other video is clearer in sound It`s titled: Chip asks for a kiss

  • I talk to chip every time I see him and constantly while interacting with him, I used the same words over and over that he is using in this video. I think because there is not a companion (except me) for him he has bonded to me as such that he wants to mimic me.

Also I think I am just lucky. In another video of him he talks even better than this and says a complete sentence.

I have always had budgies all of my life, Buzz is my first Parrotlet, they are a totally different bird, I find the Parrotlets are more like the "King" of the castle, they have more ways to show you what they are thinking by their habits. Buzz has a strict daily ritual he likes to have and he will let me know verbally if my timing is off...LOL! For example, breakfast, lunch and dinner, and of course bedtime he lets me know precisely at 9pm.

  • I'm actually debating getting a Parrotlet. I love birds - but I've usually had budgies, or English budgies. :)

  • I love your cage! :)

  • he was acting all innocent till y left the room

my seby acts crazy when i leave the room

guess he's trying to talk?? i hope so

  • My parrotlet shocked me and was starting to talk at 3 months. Very bright little birds. He's a major closet talker! So I hope one day he decides to just talk out loud to the humans.

  • that was cute and he is so young
